THE talents of young musicians are to be showcased at Salisbury Arts Centre.

Singer-songwriter Sophie Curtis, who is 17, is performing at the Live Lunch at the art centre on Saturday, July 4. The Live Lunches are a series of free lunchtime gigs, which run from midday to 2pm. Tom Clements will perform at a Live Lunch event on Saturday, July 25. He has performed more than 500 gigs in the last four years, opening shows for Robbie McIntosh, Dave McPherson and Gaz Brookfield.

On July 5, Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra will appear as part of the Big Band Lunch from midday to 2pm.

Formed in 2002 the group has appeared at Marlborough Jazz Festival and Music for Youth in Birmingham as well as playing for the Queen and guests at Salisbury’s jubilee celebrations.

There will also be music from Salisbury Concert Band on Saturday, July 18, 7.30pm.

Music lovers can join the city’s sixty-five piece concert windband and conductor, Chris Holmes, for an evening of music from shows to the classics.

Audiences can enjoy an evening of theatre and dance in Practice on Wednesday, July 22. The performances featured are works in progress.

A celebration of 50 years of vibrant and energetic music from The Mahotella Queens comes to Salisbury Arts Centre on Thursday, July 23, 8pm.

There will also be music from The Spooky Men’s Chorale on Saturday, July 25, 8pm to

10.30pm.
