PEOPLE who want to share their passion for the arts can become an Arts Award adviser at special training sessions being run at Salisbury Playhouse.

Arts Award is a nationally recognised scheme which encourages children and young people to experience and learn more about the arts before producing their own work. They are supported by accredited Arts Award advisers and Salisbury Playhouse is a training and support centre for advisers in the South West.

Advisers’Training sessions are taking place throughout during the coming months and run for a whole day or half a day. There are specific sessions to prepare advisers for the five levels of Arts Award qualifications ranging from Discover to Gold.

Arts Awards advisers can be teachers, youth workers, arts practitioners, professionals who work with vulnerable people or those who work on a freelance basis. Once qualified they can help people of all ages achieve their Arts Award.

Gold Arts Awards can be used by students as part of their university application and all Arts Awards help to encourage children and young people to experience and explore the arts.

People working towards an Arts Award at Bronze, Silver or Gold level can also volunteer with arts organisations, museums or heritage bodies as well as presenting their own productions, exhibitions, performances, fashion shows and events. The Arts Award programme is accredited by Trinity College in London.
