SALISBURY Museum is creating a unique opportunity for aspiring writers, as part of Salisbury Fringe 2015.

The museum opened its doors on Saturday for an event called ‘Meet the Objects’, to give creative writers the chance to visit the permanent galleries throughout the day and find an object to inspire a piece of writing and then write something amazing.

Those taking part have three weeks to edit their work before submitting entries to Linda Morse of Salisbury Fringe for consideration.

The competition closing date is August 29, after which a judging panel from Salisbury Fringe will select the works to be performed as part of the Salisbury Fringe Festival 2015.

At 3pm on Saturday, October 3 the second event ‘Objects come to life’ will be hosted at the museum.

This is a rare opportunity to hear and see the winning entries brought to life by professional actors and then have the chance to see the objects that inspired the words.

Salisbury Fringe Festival chairman Julian Demetriadi said: “We are greatly indebted to The Salisbury Museum for their support in hosting this exciting writing opportunity for aspiring playwrights on August 8, and the subsequent performance by professional actors of the best one-page monologues on October 3, as part of the Salisbury Fringe Festival 2015.

“You couldn’t ask for a more fascinating choice of objects to inspire your writing; and I look forward immensely to seeing the end results.

“The Salisbury Museum is one of the jewels in Salisbury’s crown.”
