A 19-YEAR-OLD former pupil of Bishop Wordsworth’s School is to give an organ recital at St Martin’s Church, Salisbury in aid of church funds on September 16.
Ben Maton has used his gap year to gain valuable practical experience by working as organist at Salisbury Crematorium. He recently won the prestigious Liz Lawrence Award for Wiltshire musicians.
This will be Ben’s final recital before he heads off to university in October, where he will read music at Oxford University, as well as taking up the role of organ scholar at St Peter’s College Oxford.
Ben is hoping to eventually take up a career at the BBC, and wants to bring classical music to a younger audience. The concert will include Bach’s Toccata and Fugue and Elgar’s Nimrod.
Starts 7.30pm. Tickets £7.
