THE young acting talent in Salisbury shone bright in the latest Studio Youth Theatre production of Sherlock Holmes.

We join the young detective Sherlock Holmes as he embarks on solving his latest case — tracing and retrieving some romantic letters sent by the soon-to-be wed Prince Carl.

But along the way the supersleuth of 221B Baker Street must outwit many of the city's criminal characters, the safe cracker Sid Prince, James and Madge Larrabee and bomb maker Gashouse Bertie led by Professor Moriarty.

Sherlock is helped by trusted side-kick John Watson and Inspector Lestrade.

The production is based on the famous characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle.

There were stand-out performances from Senan Richmond as Sherlock and Theo Ward as his dastardly nemesis and criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty. The whole cast were superb and commanded the stage well for a polished and professional effort.

I especially liked Fraser Adams portrayal of Sid Prince — which brought some great comedy to the show.

I would definitely recommend that theatre lovers go along to see for themselves the young acting talent Salisbury has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

There is still time to catch Sherlock Holmes at the Studio Theatre, Ashley Road. It runs until tomorrow. For tickets go to Salisbury Information Centre, Fish Row, or call 01722 342860.
