BOSTON Tea Party in Salisbury will be transformed in a new exhibition by nurse and artist Fiona Shaw.

The exhibition launched on Monday at the Old George Mall and will run until Saturday, May 28.

“I can’t wait to see my pieces up at Old George Mall. I have been somewhat obsessed with art since I was a child and it’s extremely exciting to know people are going to see my work in Salisbury,” said Shaw, who was born in Hong Kong.

“Alongside my career as a nurse, I have developed my passion for art through various courses and experimenting with new techniques, which is how I created my latest work.”

Her exhibition features various illustration pieces such as trees, roses and eyes.

She added: “The inspiration behind my debut collection is from my love of stained glass, as it features bold lines and block colours, much like the windows I have produced previously.”

Old George Mall’s Boston Tea Party café plays host to monthly exhibitions containing work from emerging artists and previously housed the well-known Faces of Salisbury by photojournalist Laura Dale.

Boston Tea Party curator Gemini Brookes, who is a former barista for the coffee shop and works as a nurse, is excited to bring Fiona’s art into the centre. “I met Fiona whilst on a work placement in Southampton and it has been great to combine our love for art and nursing for this exhibition.

“Fiona’s work is truly unique and inspiring — I am sure the people of Salisbury will love it.”
