KING King have never been so popular, and their upcoming gig at City Hall is one of a number of headliners this month that the country’s leading blues-rockers have to test that theory, writes Adam Blackmore.

Their success to date has been based on three top-notch albums and blistering live shows, delivered with the ease you’d expect from four great musicians, and with a charisma that sends their fans home smiling.

“We’ve taken a leap of faith in ourselves and everyone else”, says lead singer and guitarist Alan Nimmo. “We’re excited about it, not nervous, and excited about what we’re going to get and how it’s going to go.

“We’ve found over the years that cities like Salisbury, as opposed to the bigger places, tend to be thriving hubs for music, and they always were, and that’s something we enjoy, that’s great.”

Their latest album, Reaching For The Light, adds more classic rock to the accomplished blues, and catchy, anthemic songs like current single Rush Hour make you wonder just how far King King can take their obvious talent.

“We were at Wembley Arena recently with 7,000 people singing along to one of our songs. Who wouldn’t want that?” says Nimmo.

King King may well go on to headline arenas, and conquering Salisbury City Hall will be another big step on the way.

To complete a treat for rock fans, the brilliant South-African guitarist Dan Patlansky supports, showcasing his critically-acclaimed new album IntroVertigo.

Patlansky’s new album Introvertigo was released earlier this month.

King King will be at City Hall on Friday, May 20, 7pm. For tickets call 01722 434 434.
