A MUSICAL performance celebrating Wiltshire’s key role in the development of flight comes to Old Sarum Airfield tonight (Saturday).
Pioneers in the Sky is a collaboration between Salisbury residents Martin Urmson and Olu Taiwo and is a featured event in this year’s Salisbury International Arts Festival.
A senior lecturer at the University of Winchester, Dr Taiwo has devised a performance inspired by modern Japanese dance and the music accompaniment comes from Urmson’s group Ad-Liberate, which uses improvisation techniques to respond to the performers’ actions.
It takes place in the WW1-era hangars housing the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection and the aircraft themselves feature in part of the performance.
The museum opens its doors at 7pm, with the performance starting at 8pm.
