FESTIVALS come in many shapes and forms, but one innovative woman from Tollard Royal is holding a rather special boutique'- style festival in her field in the village.

Paddy Seymour came up with the idea last year and held a fairly low-key dance-based festival.

This was predominantly workshop-centred and, from the comments received, it was a resounding success.

Paddy has now decided to take this a stage further and hold a family-friendly festival over the weekend of July 7-8.

Called Dare 2, the festival again is workshop-based, but this year there is also live music.

"The feedback last year was that it would be nice to have a live band and I am very keen to promote up-and-coming bands," said Paddy.

To this end, she has booked Cuban-influenced band Tumbao, Jim Penfold and the Hollywood Kills, a successful 1970s' band that has recently reformed, blues guitarist James Lane and others.

You can learn mountain boarding with Maxtrack, circus skills and dancing with Panic Circus, African drum and dancing with Chai Chapel or electric guitar with Tim Payne.

If you want something a bit less active, you can take part in clay-modelling, yoga or crêpe-making workshops, too.

You will be able to draw plenty of sustenance from Chinese delicacies and fresh strawberries for breakfasts catered by Cranborne Stores.

Café Guate will be serving coffee from Colonel Grumpy's coffee bus and Chai Chapel will serve teas and cakes.

Ticket price includes the music, workshops, camping and parking. Yurt and tepee hire is also on offer.

Family tickets are available for the weekend at £50 and individual adult tickets are £20, with concessions for children. To book tickets, call 01725 516222.
