ONE of Britain’s leading sopranos is making her Salisbury debut.
Lesley Garrett is going to be performing a special charity concert in association with Musical Theatre Salisbury tomorrow (Saturday), 7.30pm, at City Hall.
She has never performed in Salisbury before. Her current repertoire includes O Mio Babbino Caro, Panus Angelicus, Summertime, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Moon River and many many more.
Garrett said: “I am so excited about my forthcoming Gala Concert with Music Theatre Salisbury at the City Hall.
"The choral tradition has been in my blood since I was a child, growing up with the choirs and brass bands of South Yorkshire.
“For me, music making which involves the whole community is the most important kind of music making of all and I am totally committed to it.”
Supporting her will be a choir of 40 members from Musical Theatre Salisbury who will perform in their own right a range of popular songs from musical theatre shows.
Garrett and the Musical Theatre Salisbury choir will also combine to perform some special numbers on the night.
A donation from the proceeds from the evening will be made to Salisbury Hospice.
