A NEW exhibition is bringing together different art forms to celebrate the joys of being outdoors in nature.

Transplant by Matt Cutts and Sarah Jones brings together sculpture, image, music, poetry and living plants.

Forming the heart of the exhibition at Salisbury Arts Centre, Matt Cutts’ wooden sculptures sit in ‘fields’ of wild flowers and trees.

Matt said: “Woodcarving is about standing your ground, using your body to work the life that grows all around. It is very local, yet revolutionary. Like the oak tree, it’s about putting down roots, connecting to the landscape and listening to the song of life”.

Accompanying them are large batik paintings by Sarah Jones rejoicing in the beauty of trees.

Invited to exhibit in Transplant alongside Matt, she says “this is the first time we have worked in this way together as brother and sister, both visual artists inspired by trees, plants, weather, skies and being outdoors in nature".

A soundtrack for the exhibition has been created from new music and field recordings by Sarah Jones and William D Drake.

The Transplant Music Night is on Sunday, June 26. The exhibition runs until August 13.
