A MIDSUMMER Night’s Dream opens tonight at Studio Theatre in Ashley Road.

The production, directed by Barry Matthews-Keel, commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in 1616.

It runs until July 23, starting at 7.30pm.

The story takes place on a heady midsummer night and includes a myriad of love stories woven throughout.

Emotions running deep and hot, the course of true love never did run smooth.

Passions and jealousies, stirred up with potions, confusions, and love becoming more hysterically entangled resulting from mistaken identity.

The production is allied to the Royal Shakespeare Company – Open Stages scheme.

Buy tickets from Salisbury Information Centre in Fish Row or on 01722 342860.

  • Shakespeare came to Wilton House in the winter of 1603 with the Kings Men to perform As You Like It and A Twelfth Night before King James I.

He also reputedly came to Salisbury in 1608 to the Old George Hotel in the High Street to rehearse for further performances at Wilton.
