YOUNG musicians take centre stage this weekend to showcase their talents and help shape the future of the next generation of performers.

LifeRocks is holding the special evening of music on Saturday (August 13) at Salisbury Cathedral, 6pm to 9pm.

It will be celebrating the achievements of The School of Rock and musical talent the city has to offer as well as raising crucial funding for LifeRocks CIC, a community interest company set up to allow all young people regardless of financial circumstances to access high quality music learning and performance opportunities.

A spokesman for LifeRocks said: "This round of fundraising will support young people through GCSE level music qualifications and provide them with routes into higher education and work placements in the industry."

LifeRocks CIC also provides funding to help give young people access to instruments and one-to-one lessons.

It will also be launching a programme for young adults which will help give them a voice to express their thoughts and the opportunity to make changes in how their needs are catered for.

The entertainment for the evening is being provided by The Sound Emporium with performances from The School of Rock as well as bands and solo performers.

There will also be a fundraising auction for LifeRocks CIC.

The spokesman added: "We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to our event sponsors Elite Care, The Labour Group, Rodgers building services and Millers Motors. Without the support of local businesses and partners we would not have been able to make this evening happen."

Complimentary sparkling wine and canapes will be served on arrival and guest are invited to dress to impress for the occasion.

Tickets are available through liferocks.org.uk and thesoundemporium.co.uk
