SALISBURY Fringe is looking for writers to come up with monologues to feature in next month's festival.

Festival organisers have issued calls for one-page (A4) monologues inspired by any aspect of John Constable’s famous painting Salisbury Cathedral from the meadows, which will be on display at The Salisbury Museum from September.

"We are delighted to be once again working jointly with The Salisbury Museum on a very exciting Salisbury Fringe project and performance,” said outgoing Salisbury Fringe chairman and founder Julian Demetriadi.

“We are greatly indebted to The Salisbury Museum’s marketing and administration officer Louise Tunnard, who has very generously arranged for a free-of-charge visit to the museum by monologue writers on Sunday, September 18, to view John Constable’s famous work.

"The deadline for submitting the monologues will be two days later at midnight on September 22."

An expert selection committee will choose the best monologues to be performed at Salisbury Museum by professional actors on October 1, 2pm, as part of the 2016 festival.

Salisbury Fringe has another monologue writing opportunity for loal writers – the Battle of the Monologues, which will be the penultimate event at the three-day Salisbury Fringe Festival 2016, which starts on September 30.

Battle will commence late afternoon/early evening on Sunday, October 2, at The Pheasant in Salt Lane.

Three-minute comedic monologues on any subject are needed for contest. The audience then votes for their favourites.

The top two monologues will then go head-to-head to decide which writer wins.

The deadline for Battle of the Monologues entries is midnight on August 31.
