CELEBRATE Voice has unveiled an outstanding line-up of singers for 2016 .

Tickets are now on sale for the events third season, running from October 21 to 30.

Following sell-out performances in 2015 of opera, music theatre, folk, jazz and choral celebrations, the festival is bringing more world-class singing talent to the city, with its celebrity concerts and its popular participatory singing events.

The festival this year brings performances from West End star and three-times Olivier Award nominee Hannah Waddingham.

Best known as the leading lady in such hits as The Wizard of Oz, Spamalot & Kiss Me Kate, her career also encompasses TV and film – from Les Miserables to her current role in Game of Thrones.

And award-winning Ronnie Scott’s legend, Ian Shaw proves why he is the UK’s most celebrated male jazz vocalist.

Other performers include BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Sam Kelly, who has headlined at major folk festivals in 2016.

And Celebrate Voice introduces comedy to this year’s line-up with Fascinating Aida’s Dillie Keane and her one-woman cabaret show, following critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival.

A night of a cappella wonder is presented with a double bill of the UK’s most exquisite vocal ensembles, Papagena and Blossom Street, having performed across the country, on radio and television.

For the festival’s opera fans, the 2016 opera production, Tosca presents Australian soprano Katrina Sheppeard, following her debut at ENO as Norma in 2016, sharing the title role with festival director Lynsey Docherty.

British singers Stephen Aviss (Cavaradossi) and Adam Green (Scarpia) come to Salisbury having appeared at ENO, Welsh National Opera, and Glyndebourne respectively.

The festival’s production team features eminent pianist and ENO conductor Phillip Thomas, and welcomes Royal Opera House director Julia Burbach for the first time.

Following auditions, a children’s chorus has been formed featuring the brilliant young talent of youngsters from eight of the city’s schools, providing a unique opportunity for them to work with professionals of the highest calibre.

Family fun is guaranteed with presenter Dominic Harlan’s singing show straight from the Wigmore Hall, inviting young audiences to participate, compose and sing, and the festival has commissioned an exclusive brand new show for babies and their adults.

There is the chance to be part of singing action with a new concept in Instachoir, for those eager to blast out songs in public, but without the time to join a regular choir.

The two short, high impact rehearsals will be lead by Salisbury favourite Sarah Collins and festival artists.

And finally, Celebrate Voice Singing Weekend, mentored by festival professionals has already seen a booking frenzy with its reputation for bringing out the inner diva in even the most reluctant singer.

Further outreach opportunities in the community see the festival taking its international cast of Tosca to put on a free concert at Salisbury’s Guildhall for elderly people who might not ordinarily be able to attend arts events in the city.

Artistic Director Lynsey Docherty says “Every year, more and more people are joining the Celebrate Voice family, as audience members, festival Friends, business sponsors, participants and volunteers. Even the pros themselves cannot wait to come to Salisbury and be part of our flourishing festival.

"It was great to have such positive acclaim in local and national press last year, but more importantly, it was brilliant to see most events sell out and for our joyful celebration to continue to inspire so many people in our community.

"And I can’t thank our supporters and sponsors enough for enabling the arts in this way, and seeing the value in what we are achieving in Salisbury.”

Performances take place in the Medieval Hall, Cathedral Close, Salisbury Arts Centre, and Godolphin School.
