SALISBURY Food and Drink Festival 2016 is serving up an event with plenty to cater for all tastes.

The event runs from Thursday, September 15 to Sunday 18.

For the first time, there will be the Salisbury Taste Trail offering food lovers the chance to try out some delicious offerings from businesses in the city. Taste trail token can be traded in for dishes and drinks at participating venues during the festival.

The tokens cost £3 each or £12 for five and are available from Salisbury Information Centre.

All the restaurants, cafes and pubs taking part are marked on a map.

The popular market day returns on Sunday 18 with a variety of food and mix of free cookery demonstrations and live music.

The Guildhall will be filled with workshops and activities for children of all ages and free street entertainment will keep visitors entertained.

Highlights include The Comedy Waiters by Reckless Invention. The performance combines silent comedy, circus tricks and lovely dance routines in the Market SquareAnd Family Fun with Food with Wacky Nation.

MasterChef finalist Juanita Hennessey makes her festival debut and will be demonstrating her favourite recipes during the event's market day on Sunday 18.

Jeff the Chef also returns to the festival and will be demonstrating his culinary skills as will Peter Vaughan as he draws inspiration from the Salisbury International Arts Festival's cultural focus on New Zealand.

Visitors can learn to cook classics from aromatic shredded lamb and other delights.

On Friday 16, visitors can sit back and relax and watch a "foodie" film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Salisbury Arts Centre, 7.30pm.

The family adventure, based on the novel by Roald Dahl, stars Johnny Depp and Freddie Highmore.

The food and drink festival is held to raise funds towards next year's Salisbury International Arts Festival.
