JOIN a feisty puppet who fights prejudice is heading to the Salberg at Salisbury Playhouse.

Following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016, Meet Fred takes centre stage from Thursday (February 2) and runs until Saturday 4.

Meet Fred is produced by Hijinx in association Blind Summit.

Fred is a two foot tall cloth puppet who just wants to be part of the real world: get a job, meet a girl and settle down. But when threatened with losing his PLA (Puppetry Living Allowance), Fred's life begins to spiral out of his control.

Starring a potty-mouthed but loveable puppet, Meet Fred takes a timely look at what it is to be disadvantaged in today's society. Following an outsider who tries to make his mark in a world in which he needs a lot of help, the show shines a light on how tasks like going on a date or finding a job present a myriad of problems.

The cast of Meet Fred includes two actors with Asperger's and one with Downs's syndrome, working as equals alongside four actors without learning disabilities. Hijinx is revenue funded by the Arts Council of Wales.

Meet Fred is enjoyable for audiences of all ages and abilities over the age of 14. The show contains some strong language and puppet nudity. For tickets or more information call 01722 320333 or visit salisburyplayhouse.com.
