AS a woman’s suspicions about her neighbours grow she turns from curtain twitching to planting hidden spy cameras.

Fish Eye comes to The Salberg at Salisbury Playhouse as part of Theatre Fest West, which is in its sixth year.

The production by Exeter-based Theatre Albi follows Pam, played by Maggie O’Brien, as she turns the idea of neighbourhood watch completely on its head.

Director Nikki Sved said: “It is a piece about a woman whose sideboard mysteriously goes missing and she begins to feel very suspicious of her neighbours and gradually she starts watching them to such a degree that she plants cameras in their houses and secretes them into knitted dolls.”

Fish Eye is written by awardwinning playwright Daniel Jamieson.

Nikki adds: “It is really a piece about the whole idea of privacy and how much we are watched and how much sense one can ever make of that sort of information any way and to what degree it is confirming one’s own prejudices. It touches on all those areas.

“It is funny because she goes to such extremes. It is quite exciting as well, seeing how far she will go.

“The audiences have their own suspicions about where evil might lie. You are left puzzling things out for yourself.”

She hopes Fish Eye will get audiences thinking more about these issues surrounding privacy.

Speaking about returning to Theatre Fest West, she said: “It will be a welcome return for us.”

Fish Eye is performed in The Salberg on Saturday, February 18, at 2.45pm and 7.45pm.
