WORST Wedding Ever is a wonderful triumph for Salisbury Playhouse and was laugh out loud funny.

The whole cast were superb. I particularly loved the characters of Mel (Derek Frood) and Liz (Julia Hall) – the father and mother of the bride. The “tired” relationship between the two characters had me in stitches.

Chris Chibnall’s writing is exceptional and was executed brilliantly by the cast under the direction of Gareth Machin.

The story is packed with hilarious wedding day antics. But behind the hilarity on stage the play does have some more tender moments between the family, which give more of an insight into the dynamic. This makes it a well-rounded play which is much more than just a comedy.

The wedding band were brilliant – watch them pop up in some unexpected places.

The production team behind the play also deserve a mention for creating a such a spectacular set for the family house and garden.

I can’t recommend going to see this enough. It is a wonderful, feel-good piece of theatre that will have you laughing throughout.

Worst Wedding Ever runs until February 25. Tickets: 01722 320333.
