THE line-up for the Salisbury Cathedral Organ Recitals 2017 has been announced.
Ian Wicks will give the annual Alcock Organ Recital on Wednesday (April 26), 7.30pm, in memory of former cathedral organist Sir Walter Alcock.
He said: "It is a great honour for me to give the prestigious Alcock Recital in Salisbury Cathedral.
"My programme features music that will sound magnificent on the Salisbury Willis including Julius Reubke's monumental Sonata on the 94th Psalm.
"Written when he was just 23 years old it is a rollercoaster of notes and dramatic sounds that is certainly exhilarating to play and, I hope, listen to."
The recitals will be held monthly on Wednesdays, 7.30pm, at the cathedral, and the big screen will be used allowing the audience to see into the organ loft.
Other performers include Peter Gould, Derby Cathedral’s Master of Music until his recent retirement, Paul Carr, Peter Stevens, assistant Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral, and Charles Harrison, Organist and Master of the Choristers at Chichester Cathedral.
David Halls, the director of music at Salisbury Cathedral, and Claudia Grinnell will also give recitals in May and June.
Tickets are available online at salisburycathedral.org.uk or on the door on the night.
