STRICTLY Come Dancing stars Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe waltz their way to Salisbury to delight fans and take them on a special journey through time.

The pair bring their new UK tour of Somewhere in Time to City Hall on Wednesday, June 7.

Natalie who hails from Sydney, was a regular professional on Dancing With The Stars in Australia before heading to the UK.

It was 2009 when she first graced the Strictly dancefloor, dancing her way to the final with actor Ricky Whittle. Her dance partners on the show have since included actor Scott Maslen, boxer Audley Harrison, cricketer Michael Vaughan, celebrity auctioneer Tim Wonnacott, and chef Ainsley Harriott.

She recently appeared on the 14th series of the popular show with celebrity dance partner, Olympic gold medallist long jumper Greg Rutherford.

"For me it has been incredible, I never thought in a million years I would be performing on TV. I never really set out to do that. I never really auditioned for the show to be fair in Australia," says Natalie.

"Ten years later I'm still on TV and it's been the best experience. I've learnt so much and met so many different people. You learn a lot from the celebrities coming on. You really do go on a journey with these people. You have got a big responsibility on your shoulders, I find that really rewarding to get that person looking the best they can in the shortest amount of time with the restrictions they have whether it be family or work or comfort zone."

She continued: "I quite like that we help light up people's lives and give them that two hours of joy on a Saturday night, no matter what they are going through. That for me is something I never thought I would be a part of. I'm very privileged."

For Ian his love of dancing was sparked aged 10 when he accompanied his younger brother to Saturday dance lessons.

He went on to make it to the European Professional Latin Championships finals in 2003.

Since hanging up his dance shoes on Strictly, Ian has become a firm favourite behind the scenes on Strictly Come Dancing’s It Takes Two programme with his very own slot, Waite's Wednesday Warm-Up.

However, as he explains it could have been a different story.

"I was ready to change my career 12 years ago. I had just moved back from seven years in Holland and I thought ballroom dancing is dead really, and an old fashioned art that no-one was really interested in. I thought it was going to be a struggle so I was ready to change my career. Then I got offered Strictly. Everything changed from that moment. It was the turning point really."

His celebrity dance partners on Strictly Come Dancing have included singer Mica Paris, Olympian Denise Lewis, model Penny Lancaster-Stewart, model Jodie Kidd, and radio personality and television presenter Zoe Ball.

The pair say Strictly has helped promote dancing.

Ian admits: "It has been fantastic for all ballroom dancers. Dancing is so much more common and taken much more seriously."

"It's now cool to ballroom dance; it never used to be that cool," adds Natalie.

Now, they are embarking on a UK tour with their new show Somewhere in Time.

Natalie says: "This year is a full on, brand new show with new choreography, amazing music. There are a lot of different elements to it with the music - there is swing music, theatrical songs, ballads and really important songs that mean a lot to me and Ian. "Everyone is going to know the tracks and sing along to them."

The pair say there will be plenty of opportunities for audiences to get involved. Some lucky members may get the chance to dance with them on stage.

"The show is about the audience, it is not about us, and that is really exciting because it is nice to be able to give back to all the supporters out there who either vote for you or egg you on during the year. We are really excited," says Natalie.

The new show follows on from the success of their first show, which went down a storm with audiences.

Ian says: "This year we themed it Somewhere in Time, we've tried to make all the dances in different eras - we've got the roaring twenties and the 40s."

It fuses an "old fashioned variety feel" with modern parts to the show with "something there for everyone".

Look out for the "fiery" Paso Doble, the Argentine tango, classic ballroom dance's the waltz, the quick step, foxtrot, Viennese Waltz and more.

Natalie says: "It's all about our history together, what we've experienced and the heading says a lot, it could be anywhere in time. We wanted to take people back and go on a journey with us.

"There will be moments in time that are going to be very unexpected," adds Natalie. "You're not going to get just what you expect.

"It is a great opportunity for us to show our own character and our own creativity." says Ian.
