THE bi-annual BIG Session, an outdoor music event for all the family, is taking place in Sixpenny Handley on Saturday, July 8, from 12 noon to 10pm.

There will be live music all day, music and craft workshops for children and adults as well as play experiences for the little ones.

The line-up of music includes Ukular Fusion from the Mother Ukers, rock and pop classics from Tom Clements & The Clementynes, a blend of Americana, country and punk from Two Man Travelling Medicine Show and high energy folk and rock from local singer/ songwriter Mikey Ball.

Dorset-based ska band, The Decatonics, will also be paying their first visit to a Sixpenny Session.

The workshops will be held in the village hall for children and adults. There will be storytelling with Amanda Baird, featuring her ‘Cabinet of Delights’ while music workshops will include an introduction to the ukulele with Mother Ukers, a chance to learn a variety of techniques for playing the spoons with Jo May plus an African percussion workshop.

Penny Mansergh from Sixpenny Sessions said: “We are really excited to be bringing this mini festival back to Handley following the great success of the first one held in 2015.

“Of course we couldn’t have made it happen without the generous support of a number of local organisations.”

The event takes place on the cricket pitch and in the village hall, Common Road, Sixpenny Handley, SP5 5ND.

Tickets cost £10 for an adult; £20 for a family (two adults and two children) and £2.50 for additional children.

They are available from Styles Mini Market, High Street, Sixpenny Handley or via eventbrite.co.uk

All profits from event will go towards Sixpenny Handley with Pentridge Community Fund.
