MUSICIANS will be raising the roof as well as much-needed funds for the British Lung Foundation at a concert in Salisbury.

The concert is being organised by Fiona Brockhurst whose granddaughter Josie Mudd was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease when she was only six-months-old.

She had to be attached to a 24-hour oxygen supply.

Now, Josie is enjoying the life of a busy five-year-old and has been breathing unaided for two years.

Fiona, who is part of Decadent Brass, hopes the concert will raise awareness of the condition. She said: "There are many types of children’s Interstitial Lung Disease; many of them go undiagnosed and tragically many children die."

She added: "What better way to celebrate healthy lungs, raise awareness of lung disease and support the British Lung Foundation than to stage a concert programme involving symphonic brass players."

Dave Andrews directs the ensemble in Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky and music from West Side Story by Bernstein.

Decadent Brass, and friends, will be performing on Sunday, February 25, at the Leehurst Swan School in Salisbury. The concert starts at 4pm. Tea and coffee will also be available.

Entrance is free and there will be a retiring collection for the charity.

Josie comes from a musical family, her mum Sarah is an oboist and vocalist with local band, Girls Only Jazz Orchestra. She will be running the London Marathon in April for the British Lung Foundation.
