A FORMER singer-songwriter from Amesbury is hoping to capture the energy of Kate Bush in a new show paying tribute to the star.

Rachel Sinnetta stars in Wuthering Heights - The Music of Kate Bush and has been speaking to the Journal ahead of the 24-date tour which starts from April 25.

She has worked with the likes of Gerry & The Pacemakers who she supported, Lianne Carrol, Pete Townshend and Chesney Hawkes to name a few.

Rachel, who also lived in Salisbury and performed on the city's music scene as Child of Imber, says: “My intention all along was to just try and bring her music back to a younger audience as well as all the people who already have an appreciation for her.”

The show will feature a number of Kate Bush’s well-known hits but Rachel admits it was difficult selecting the songs for the tour.

“Instead of focusing on her and what she did we want the music to be full of the same kind of energy and emotion,” explains Rachel.

She says she had to “slightly alter” her voice for some of the earlier Kate Bush songs.

“I have to try and get that youthful energy into my voice and also the emotional expression in the way that she sings the songs you have to try and capture that. That is really all I am doing.

“But in terms of imitation I don’t think anybody possibly can imitate Kate Bush. It is difficult to do that.”

“This has been something that has been really good for me to sing these songs I have been listening to and I love them,” she adds.

“It’s nicely coming together and should be really fun to tour.”

The show will be heading to venues including Wyvern Theatre, Swindon and Assembly Theatre in Melksham and The Pavilion in Weymouth.
