MUSIC, a National Theatre Live simulcast and family films feature in the events programme for May and June at Salisbury Arts Centre.

Musical Theatre Salisbury present A Song to Sing on May 10-12, covering songs from Gilbert & Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Webber and many more.

On May 16, there is a chance to see the National Theatre production of Macbeth starring Anne-Marie Duff and Rory Kinnear in an National Theatre Live screening from 7pm.

The Devil’s Violin perform Stolen - a tale of lost loves, bravery and hope - on May 17.

And May 19 sees Salisbury Live take over the arts centre for a series of live music acts. This will be followed by Salisbury Live’s youth music event, showcasing some of the area’s local talent on June 1.

On May 25, there are three performances of Kaleidoscope, a show for babies of 6 to 18 months old, from Filskit Theatre.

The show is inspired by research into how a baby’s sense of sight develops and how they instinctively begin to categorise colour.

For the May half term there are two crafty film sessions on offer. On May 29, children can make a boat and then row into the auditorium to watch Finding Nemo. And on May 31 children can make a cardboard home and then watch Up.

Comedian Robin Ince performs his first new stand up show in three years on June 8 - a romp through his favourite artists and strangest scientific ideas.

From the work of Stanley Spencer to Niels Bohr, it is 90 minutes fizzing with ideas about creativity in science and art, as well as asking why we believe what we believe.

June 15 and 16 see the return of Beerex to Salisbury Arts Centre, with music, merriment and a selection of more than 50 of the finest real ales and ciders.

Then on June 23 audiences can celebrate the early songs of the progressive rock band with tribute act Book of Genesis.

Refurbishment and essential maintenance will take place during July and August, in preparation for the start of the Autumn season.

The season starts with a weekend of free events across the August bank holiday.
