INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed and Grammy-nominated jazz singer Stacey Kent is performing in the city for one night only.
She is at Salisbury Playhouse with her five-piece band on Wednesday, May 16 .
The collection of songs from her new album, I Know I Dream, features American Standards, Bossa Nova classics, Chansons, as well as original songs and reprises of some of Stacey’s most loved repertoire - including numbers co-written by Nobel prizewinner Kazuo Ishiguro.
Raised on the east coast of the US, Stacey travelled to Europe to further her studies.
After receiving her degree from Sarah Lawrence College in New York, through a series of twists of fate, she found herself in London where she enrolled in a graduate music programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Kent’s musical journey began in her childhood with piano lessons. An unusually keen ear and true voice lead her to perform in school musical productions, and she could often be heard singing at impromptu musical events in the college’s cafe
With a catalogue of 11 studio albums including the Platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated Breakfast On The Morning Tram and an impressive list of collaborations, Stacey has graced the stages of more than 50 countries over the course of her career.
