SALISBURY Cathedral’s director of music David Halls is giving a special organ recital next week.

The recital on Wednesday (May 16) is in aid of the Southern Cathedrals Festival.

The festival is an annual event that is hosted every year by one of three cathedrals - Salisbury, Chichester and Winchester - and involves the choirs from all three singing together and individually in a wide range of concerts and services.

It is one of largest choral festivals in the country and this year Salisbury Cathedral is hosting the event in July.

The programme includes music by Bach, Franck, Ireland and Widor – as well as one of David Halls’ own compositions, Hymn Tune Suite, copies of which will be available for purchase at the recital.

All monies raised go to the Southern Cathedral Festival Fund.

The recital starts at 7.30pm and a big screen will be available for those who would like to see into the organ loft during the recital.

For those who do not wish to watch on the big screen seats are available in the Cathedral Quire.

Tickets are £10 per person (£7.50 for wheelchair users) and can be purchased online or on the door on the night.
