DUBLIN folk group Lankum are heading to the city for a performance at Salisbury Rugby Club.

The band, who are formerly known as Lynched, were double award winners at the 2018 Radio 2 Folk Awards, including best group.

They combine four-part vocal harmonies with arrangements of uilleann pipes, concertina, Russian accordion, fiddle and guitar.

Their repertoire spans humorous Dublin music-hall ditties and street-songs, classic ballads from the Traveller tradition, traditional Irish and American dance tunes, and their own original material.

This event on Sunday, May 20, 7.30pm, is in aid of Salisbury Hospice with £2.50 from each ticket going to the charity in memory of Lyn Futcher.

Organisers say they are “delighted” to get the acclaimed band to perform in Salisbury and that tickets are already selling very fast.

The Salisbury mum died aged 44 in November 2013 after a brave six-year battle with cancer. She received care and support from Salisbury Hospice Charity.

n Tickets for the gig are £12.50 (plus booking fee) available at wegottickets.com/event/427569
