FOLLOWING on from the record breaking success of the 2017 event, the 17th annual Farley Music Festival returns.
The event, which runs from June 19-24 promises to be another feast of classical music, performed by some of the world’s most gifted musicians.
Five concerts take place in the Wren-style All Saints’ Church.
n Retorica: Tuesday, June 19, 7pm
The acclaimed violin duo of Harriet McKenzie and Philippa Mo, will include their own arrangements of J.S. Bach’s Inventions. They will also perform Telemann’s Sonata for Two Violins in B Minor, op.2, No.5; Wieniawski’s Etude-Caprice in G Minor, No.1; Mozart’s Sonata for Two Violins in G Major and more.
n Ariel Lanyi: Wednesday, June 20, 7pm
The rising young pianist and Royal Academy of Music scholarship student’s concert programme will contrast Mozart’s Adagio in B Minor, K.540, with Schubert’s sonatas.
n Julia Hamos: Thursday, June 21, 7pm
The multi-award winning Hungarian-American pianist will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in A Major, op.101; Schumann’s witty and touching Davidsbündlertänze, op.6; and J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in C Sharp Major.
n Isabelle Oehmichen, Friday, June 22, 7pm
The French pianist will be making welcome return to the festival performing Liszt’s Cantique d’amour, as well as three of his realisations of songs by Schumann, Schubert and Wagner.
n Sapori Vocali (Vocal Flavours): Saturday, June 23, 7pm
They present A Night at the Opera. The group was founded by Alexandra Frazer, a former Godolphin School pupil who graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2016.
This talented group of artists will present a programme of arias and ensembles by composers including Handel, Humperdinck and Rameau.
