THE Big Session is bringing an “amazing mix” of music as well as fun and game for all the family to Sixpenny Handley this weekend.

It takes place on the cricket pitch, Common Road, on Saturday from 2pm to 10pm and is supported by and in aid of the local community.

The BIG Session is an outdoor event for all the family. There will be live music plus craft, nature and music workshops.

The music line-up includes local singer/songwriter Charlie Woodford, Ukular Fusion from Sixpenny Sessions favourites Mother Ukers, the Polly Morris Band, a funk rock explosion from Vanilla Radio and headlining this year is Bournemouth-based Cash Converted, the south’s premier Johnny Cash tribute act.

This year the workshops will all be held on the cricket pitch so that the whole festival is contained in one setting.

There will be fun and games for children and adults - have a go at playing the ukulele, learn some circus skills, or go on a nature hunt, or create your own bugs.

Penny Mansergh of Sixpenny Sessions says: “There is already a great buzz about The Big Session and we are really excited to be bringing this mini festival back to Handley.

“We have an amazing mix of music, fun and games for all the family plus the ever popular big raffle. Of course we couldn’t make it happen without the generous support of a number of local organisations. The BIG Session is sponsored by local businesses Willton Homes, CBA Services, Sixpenny Forge, The Web Booth, Styles Mini Market, Kickstand Marketing, Summerlock Upholstery. Plus some amazing raffle prize have been donated by Larmer Tree Festival, Rushmore Golf Club, The Chilli Festival, City Hall Salisbury, Morrisons and The Chalk Valley History Festival (2019) to name but a few.

“With outdoor activities on the cricket pitch, fabulous food supplied by 1st Woodcutts Scouts plus a bar provided by The Penny Tap, featuring local ales and cider, we know it’s going to be another wonderful day out for all the family. All we want now is for this fabulous weather to last.”
