BROADCASTING legend Danny Baker is this month coming to Salisbury with a brand new show, Good Time Charlie’s Back! which he vows will serve as his farewell tour.

It follows hot on the heels of Danny’s hugely successful and critically acclaimed debut tour ‘Cradle To The Stage’, which played more than 50 dates across the UK in 2017.

Danny is a broadcaster and writer who has worked throughout print, television and radio for over 30 years. His recent bestselling autobiographies were adapted into the hit BBC series Cradle to Grave. He can be heard Saturdays mornings with his multi award winning BBC Radio 5 Live show which includes his usual mixture of music, sport, guests and, of course, Danny’s signature encyclopaedic wit.

His newest show comprises more than 60 uproarious new anecdotes from throughout Danny’s life.

He said: “They’re not written down. I’m like the Navajo; it’s all an oral history, passed down through the generations. It’s not a written language. But that’s the fun of it. If it were written down, the audience could tell, and it would take some of the vim out of it. I don’t ever work to a script in radio or anything else. People think there must be a script. There isn’t, and whatever facility I may have, that is it. Minor though it is, that’s what I can do.

“Even people in the audience who had heard it before nudge their neighbours and say, ‘This is a great story’. I’m not a comedian. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I know this joke.’ It’s all in the story. The devil is in the detail.”

Good Time Charlie’s Back! comes to Salisbury City Hall on Wednesday, July 18.
