OPERA at Chilmark announces its fifteenth annual production – a double bill of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and John Blow’s Venus and Adonis.

Opera at Chilmark brings together young professional soloists with an orchestra that largely consists of members of Salisbury Baroque and with the company’s own chorus and dancers.

Direction is by Jan Koene, a London-based actor/teacher, and musical direction is by David Davies and choreography is by Rebecca Seymour.

Performances take place in a large barn at Cleeves Farm, Chilmark, which is converted into a 120-seater opera house and is adjacent to a grassed courtyard, ideal for picnicking.

There are two performances at 5pm over the August Bank Holiday weekend – Sunday and Monday, August 26 and 27.

Tickets are £27.50 and accompanied under 16s are free. Book by calling 01722 714440 or emailing davidracheld@gmail.com
