THE photographic work of Mike Beecham is on display at the Beaumont Gallery in Mere,

The Downs exhibition runs until Sunday, August 12. It features images of the Downs around Mere, an area of outstanding natural beauty within the counties of Dorset and Wiltshire and home to farmers, dog walkers, paragliders, hobbyists and livestock.

The photographs have been taken over a period of two years and document the changing landscape over all seasons.

Andrew Walworth, of Beaumont Gallery, said: “If you’ve ever walked over the Downs or seen them in the distance as you’ve driven down the A303 or other roads around Mere, you’ll know how incredibly beautiful they are year-round. Mike Beecham hasn’t created a series of simple landscape images but instead has become more intimate with the area itself and the different elements, animals and people who inhabit the Downs. His project utilises many different photographic approaches to capture the drama, tranquillity and beauty of a place he likes to call ‘home’.”

Exhibiting alongside Mike is photographer Steve Hawkins with his new show It’s the Little Things which he describes as “a collection of intimate moments and temporary interludes in the everyday”.
