MESSUMS Wiltshire in Tisbury is inviting visitors to enjoy an exhibition, festival and hands-on making experiences.
The venue hosts its third annual Material: Wood - Art and Design event which runs from Wednesday (August 8) to September 9.
The event will feature artists and makers including Thomas Heatherwick, Gareth Neal, Chris Eckersley, Richard Woods, Rob and Nick Carter and Alastair Mackie lead a survey of contemporary making practices in wood, with a focus on chair design.
As part of this exhibition visitors are being given the opportunity to join other ‘makers-on-benches’ for courses led by some of the best practitioners working today, from lofting to steam bending, paddle making and green chair crafting.
A programme of talks with subjects as varied as the history of boat design and how we can grow furniture rather than make it are also being held.
Join artist and designer Chris Eckersley for A Life in Design on Wednesday, 6.30pm. The event is free.
There will also be Make a Wiltshire Chair workshops running from Thursday, August 9 to Saturday, August 11.
