ALAN Corkill, pictured, Salisbury Playhouse's theatre manager, has been shortlisted for a top theatrical award.
The nomination in the manager of the year category of the Theatrical Management Association's (TMA) Management Awards is timely in Alan's career, as he plans to retire this summer, after 42 dedicated years of service with Salisbury Playhouse.
The TMA awards are considered the theatre industry's equivalent of the Oscars and celebrate excellence in various disciplines of management within the performing arts. The winner will be announced today.
And there is good news for theatregoers who enjoy a more intimate setting Caryl Churchill's two-hander, A Number, which premiered at the Royal Court in 2002, is being produced in the Salberg Studio in September.
Irving Berlin's music looks set to brighten up the Salberg in a musical soirée perfect for the festive season.
Full details of all productions are available from the new brochure available at the theatre.
Public booking opens on Monday and the Journal will feature the season in greater detail in July.
