SEAN Aita, Forest Forge's artistic director, is leaving the professional, Ringwood- based rural touring theatre company to take up a new role in September at the Bournemouth Arts Institute.

The former actor and associate director at the Royal Theatre in Northampton is taking up the post as senior lecturer in acting on the BA (Hons) course in acting.

During his five years at Forest Forge, the theatre company has been shortlisted for the Stage Awards for achievement in regional theatre in 2005, produced the company's first international co-production in 2007 and completed a major radio project alongside the Nuffield Theatre, Solent People's Theatre and Radio Solent this year.

"I have loved my time at Forest Forge and will miss my colleagues, and all of the wonderful audience members and show promoters throughout the region who have been so loyal to the company, he said."

"I am, however, thrilled to be joining the team at the Arts Institute as it has an excellent reputation within the industry."

Sean, who lives in Ringwood, is married with two daughters.
