Digital artist to put on one-man show at top gallery

ANIMATION artist Matthew Dean has rather more than just dipped his toe into the digital age, by being chosen to exhibit a piece of his artwork at a special digital art exhibition held at the prestigious Scream art gallery in Mayfair, London.

Scream is co-owned by Jamie Wood, son of Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones and Matthew, who lives in Salisbury, was one of eight artists exhibiting at the exhibition, A celebration of digital art', alongside artwork by Ronnie Wood himself.

The exhibition was held from July 7 to 12 and such was its success that Matthew, pictured, has been asked to put on a one-man show at the gallery early next year of his linear and canvas work as well as animation works involving time-lapse movement.

"The Scream gallery is groundbreaking and this has been good publicity for me, opening up doorways I had not looked at before," he says.

Matthew runs regular animation workshops at Salisbury Arts Centre for young people and adults.

These start again on October 2 and the Arts Centre is also offering taster sessions for anyone who does not want to sign up for all five sessions. Early booking is advised and full details are available from the centre.

He is also running animation workshops at Poole's Lighthouse centre for the arts throughout August.
