ARTIST Prudence Maltby's beautifully illustrated children's book, Elvis the Egret, is now widely available for sale.
Published earlier this year by the Living River project for Salisbury International Arts Festival, the story takes its young readers on a magical journey to Elvis the Egret's home on the River Avon.
It is a lovely tale about home and belonging. Elvis and his flock of uncles, aunts and cousins are thought a bit flash' by the coots - "white settlers" they are called.
Suitable for all ages as well as for reading aloud, the Living River project has also produced a story-sack resource for use with schools and other children's groups. This includes games, finger puppets, nature spotting cards and an amusing recipe for croc au vin'.
Prudence, pictured, who lives in Salisbury, will be reading Elvis the Egret at the Salisbury branch of Waterstone's on Saturday between 11am and noon.
n Elvis the Egret is available from Salisbury Arts Centre, Sarum College, Cross Keys Bookshop and the Salisbury branch of Waterstone's and is priced £4.99.
