COMEDY to suit all tastes can be found at Salisbury city centre venues over the coming weeks, ranging from critically acclaimed stars of the Edinburgh Fringe to some newcomers to the comedy circuit.
Stephen K Amos’s show, The Feelgood Factor, promises to lift spirits offering plenty of fun, warmth and bonhomie.
The last 12 months have seen Amos rise in the comedy world. His hit show Find the Funny played to sell-out audiences on his UK tour and he was a shining star at last summer’s Edinburgh Fringe. More recently, he has recorded his own comedy show for the BBC and a Simon Nye penned sitcom, also for the BBC. Amos is also much in demand on stage and has appeared in the West End run of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest alongside Christian Slater.
Russell Kane is the comedian of the moment as one of the current presenters of the reality television show, I’m a Celebrity. Critically acclaimed for his sell-out Edinburgh run and a comedy award nominee, Kane reinvents Shakespeare for his current show with a reworking into Fakespearian verse as the comedian takes on the role of Essex banker King Nigel.
Laura Solon’s spring tour comes direct from her run at London’s Soho Theatre. This is her first show since 2005 and features a multi-character narrative comedy entitled Rabbit Faced Story Soup. Billed as comedy theatre, this one-woman show has been written and is performed by the Perrier award-winning comedian and promises to be great fun.
Finally, Wiltshire comic Andrew Watts is organising a charity comedy night in aid of Salisbury Hospicecare with some big names on the comedy circuit coming to Salisbury next weekend.
Anna Keirle, one of the most highly regarded comperes on the circuit will be acting as MC to comics Phil Nichol and Ava Vidal, king of comedy magic Christian Lee and newcomers Nat Luurtsema and Pat Gallagher to complete the line-up.
