MORE than 350 young people aged between 13 and 21 had the opportunity to sample cultural delights from film, music, dance and drama workshops to singing in a band or sampling the skills of parkour (free-running).

YNM Creative Juice was held at Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Arts Centre on Friday and offered the opportunity for young people to sample workshops free of charge.

Megan Purdie, project co-ordinator, working in partnership with Salisbury Playhouse and Wiltshire Youth Arts Partnership, spoke of the event’s success: “Most of the young people we spoke to were having a really good time. The day had been curated by a creative panel of ten 13- to 18-year-olds, ensuring their plans were relevant to what they wanted to do.

“We wanted to be sure we were putting on something young people wanted to do as well as something we could provide.

“And, as it was a free event, young people had an opportunity to come along and try things they would not normally experience as there were no barriers in terms of expense.”
