KING’S Singer Philip Lawson (pictured far right) sang his last concert with the internationally renowned vocal ensemble on Saturday night in Salisbury Cathedral.
This was fitting, as Mr Lawson is a former lay clerk member of the cathedral choir. But Saturday night was no ordinary concert as the ensemble were joined by the girls of South Wilts Grammar School A Cappella Choir for Durufle’s Requiem under the direction of the school’s head of music, Libby Poppleton.
Included in the programme were Durufle motets and a group of folksongs arranged by Philip Lawson and Gordon Langford and sung by The King’s Singers, and Bob Chilcott’s work, Even Such is Time.
All profits from Saturday’s concert are to be donated to the John McNeill Opportunity Centre, Salisbury’s nursery for special needs.
