BRAZILIAN pianist and singer Eliane Elias will headline this summer’s Wiltshire Jazz Festival.
Billed as one of the hottest properties in jazz today, the international star will perform with double bass player Marc Johnson, hugely renowned in his own right, making this a fantastic headline act.
A multi-Grammy award nominee, Elias’ 2011 album Light My Fire was a huge success in the jazz charts, the title track a cover of the Doors’ song, sensually sung in English.
Wiltshire Jazz Festival is held in the grounds of Jesses, Snow Hill in Dinton where you can picnic alfresco, enjoy refreshments on the lawn and soak up the jazz sounds in the large marquee or the converted barn.
This summer’s festival is being held on Saturday, June 9 from 1pm until 12.15am and has become a firm favourite among jazz aficionados.
Returning to the festival is The Big Chris Barber Band. Trombonist Chris Barber celebrates 63 years as a band leader and is known in jazz circles as one of the ‘living legends’.
Another returnee is saxophonist Andy Sheppard with pianist John Parricelli, hugely popular last year.
Guitarist John Etheridge and violinist Chris Garrick will be performing together too at the festival. Paying homage to Stephane Grappelli, under the name of Sweet Chorus, the duo play their own take on ‘gypsy jazz’.
The full line-up is available at wiltshirejazzfestival.co.uk and tickets are available by calling 01722 717044.
