VERONICA Stewart was a passionate supporter of the arts, being involved with arts organisations and charities throughout her life. On Saturday, February 4 the Veronica Stewart Arts Trust was launched in her memory with a gala concert held at Trafalgar Park, near Downton.
The Trust will present an annual financial award to an emerging creative artist over the age of 18 to further his or her career with the first award being made to a composer.
Providing the music for the gala was La Folia members, violinist Priya Mitchell, cellist Matthew Barley and pianist Howard Moody, who played music by Rachmaninov, Shostakovich, Bartok and Piazzolla.
