THEATREGOERS in the Salisbury area are in for a treat next week when touring theatre company Headlong brings its highly-acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet to the main house stage of Salisbury Playhouse.
The production, directed by Headlong’s associate director Robert Icke, has garnered praise from national theatre critics following its opening at Southampton’s Nuffield Theatre.
Headlong’s Romeo and Juliet is set in modern Verona where the two young lovers risk everything to be together.
Daniel Boyd plays Romeo with Catrin Stewart as Juliet. Daniel will soon be seen in director Rupert Goold’s upcoming film version of Richard II due for release this year. Joining them on the cast list are Caroline Faber as Lady Capulet, Keith Bartlett as Capulet, Simon Coates as Friar Laurence and Brigid Zengini as the Nurse, among others.
Passionate, impetuous and heartbreaking, Shakespeare’s great tragedy of family feuds and forbidden love is given a fresh spin by Headlong in this theatrically inventive production.
