AFTER twenty-five years together, The Hamsters have announced their retirement, but not before a last gasp tour taking in Salisbury’s City Hall next month.
Reputedly one of the best live performers around, The Hamsters have become synonymous with their own brand of bluesy, rockedup Americana, as well as renowned interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top.
To celebrate their retirement, The Hamsters will be bringing along that great British musical eccentric John Otway to join in the fun.
You will still be able to buy The Hamsters’ music as they have just released a double live album of recordings from their autumn 2010 tour, commemorating the death of Jimi Hendrix 40 years earlier on September 18, 1970, and the band will live on as the title track to their album Route 666 is being used in the fortcoming comedy/horror film, Stag Night of the Dead.
n The Hamsters will be playing at the City Hall on Saturday, March 10 at 8pm. Tickets are available from the box office on 01722 434434.
