Jools Holland gets Larmer Tree Festival off to a swinging start

JOOLS HOLLAND AND HIS RHYTHM AND BLUES ORCHESTRA, LARMER TREE FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT

JOOLS Holland got the Larmer Tree Festival off to a hip-swinging, all-swaying and toetapping start on its opening night.

The boogie-woogie piano man, who was making his 16th appearance at the festival, was joined on stage by his fabulous 20-strong big band and guests 82-year-old trombonist Chris Barber and former Fine Young Cannibals’ frontman Roland Gift.

The smartly-dressed Jools gave another outstanding performance. Special guests Chris Barber, Rico Rodriguez, Roland Gift, Rosie May, Louise Marshall and Ruby Turner all added to the magic, with Good Thing and I Went By going down a storm. Not even the rain could put a dampener on proceedings.

This was, at last, the feel good factor of our summer and Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra made the good times roll.
