Baroque tribute to Purcell

SALISBURY Baroque will celebrate the music of Henry Purcell in its next concert.
Also featuring works by Matthew Locke and Pelham Humfrey, the concert will be directed by Catherine Martin and features soprano Katharine Hawnt.
Martin is a distinguished period instrument specialist and has worked as leader of the Gabrieli Consort and Players, the orchestra of the Early Opera Company, The English Concert and Florilegium.
Hawnt performs regularly throughout Europe with groups including Collegium Vocale Ghent, Musica Screta, and The Musical and Amicab l e Society, and directs her own group Le Basile which performs regularly in Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
The concert will be held at St Thomas’s Church, Salisbury on Sunday September 23, at 3.30pm.
