Flash fiction contest

PRIOR to this year’s events, Mere Literary Festival is running a competition for timed flash fiction.

Entrants should write a story of no more than 350 words which must include a phrase which will be revealed on Thursday, September 27 on the festival website at merelitfest.co.uk , in local libraries and via the festival phone line on 01747 860475. The closing date for entries is Friday, October 5, when stories, complete with a cover sheet with contact details, should reach MLF, Lawrences, Old Hollow, Mere BA12 6EG.

The entry fee for adults is £2 for the first story (£1 thereafter). Under 16s can enter for free.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Sunday, October 14, when author James Long will talk about his novels.
