Going Head to Head for success

SALISBURY band Head to Head launched their debut album on Monday night at a special launch party event at the Wyndham Arms in the city.

The nine-track album entitled Head To Head has been released through H2H Recordings, an independent label that started life in 2006. Simon Birch from the band explains the background to the release: "The original concept of Head To Head began way back in 1986 in South London.

"I was working with various bands, playing guitar, engineering and producing at the time, and decided to put an album together of recordings featuring many of the musicians that I was working with at that moment.

"The idea expanded to include graphic artists, poets, lighting engineers and other enthusiastic people."

From this a collective was formed and this, says Simon, is the concept surrounding H2H Recordings, wanting to "break away from the sanitisation of Radio One's playlisting and the grip of the budget obsessed major labels."

The album is available as a digital download on the iTunes Music Store.
