THE Unit and Salisbury Arts Centre’s Sound and Light show takes place at Salisbury Cathedral on Friday, with Billy Lunn of The Subways topping the bill.

Lunn has enjoyed UK Single and Album Chart success in the last five years with his three-piece indie rock band.

Support comes from local young acts Vibroscope, Jenny The Alibi and 8.05.

* Whitmore prepare for their first UK tour in nine years with a warm-up show on Friday at The Anvil in Bournemouth.

The recently-reformed three-piece, who scored notable alternative chart success with Alison, perform alongside Escape From 98, The Splash and others.

Tickets are £10.

* Altar Club served up its monthly offering last Saturday with an eclectic mix of bands.

Trapped on Amber opened the night and showed a growing sound and stage presence as they impressed the early revellers.

The returning Crippled Rook (pictured above) stole the show with only their second show in nearly six years.

Pete Leonard ditched his most recent chilled blues roots for some stomp down blues rock.

And bassist Luke wowed the crowd despite playing in a cast after recently breaking his wrist. Nudybronque and Fearne followed.

* The highly-tipped Echotape perform at The Old Ale House on Friday night, kicking off a massive UK tour that will see them perform at some impressive festivals.

* A new music fanzine has launched in Salisbury and the second issue is out at the weekend.
